Days of Special Interest in 2017: there will be a new venue in Berkhamsted, to be advised.

Welcome to the website of the Beds and Herts area of THE ARTS SOCIETY.

This is one of the UK's leading voluntary arts education bodies with around 90,000 members divided into 20 geographical areas including two overseas in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. There are more than 340 individual societies in the UK with 18 in Beds and Herts serving 5,000 members.

The area team exists to enhance your enjoyment of the society as an existing or potential member and offers support to local societies through area meetings, educational events and co-ordination of the Church Recording, Heritage Volunteers and Young Arts activities. The area chairman liaises regularly at national level and contributes to policy issues and other initiatives.

Our aims are to promote the appreciation and study of every aspect of decorative and fine art and to preserve our artistic heritage for the benefit of all. To this end, we organise programmes of lectures, visits, tours and special interest days as well as the volunteer activities. Non-members are welcome to attend special interest days, and are particularly welcome to join the groups of Church Recorders or Heritage Volunteers in their work.

In addition to Society Membership, we offer an Affiliate membership aimed at those people who would like to be part of our organisation but who do not live within easy reach of a Society or are unable to attend Society meetings. To learn more about our activities please click the appropriate links on the left or click the link on the right to access information about the individual societies that comprise the Beds and Herts area.
